Though this is only my fourth blog post on It’s A Go!, I realize that the last two posts were a bit long (roughly 650 words each). I will keep this one short…
#SuperBowl
It must be surreal to be in Philly tonight! The Philadelphia Eagles won their FIRST Super Bowl title! This is unfortunate for all New England Patriots fans, but it is especially unfortunate for Eddy Ferrini. (Don’t worry about Eddy Ferrini, though. He may have had the confidence to get a tattoo declaring his team’s victory of Super Bowl LII days before the big game, but he always had a backup plan– he’s confident that his team will win the Super Bowl next year, so he’ll simply add another ‘I’ to his tattoo. Best of luck, Eddy!)
Sick or not, I think Pink performed the national anthem beautifully (she announced that she was sick on Instagram earlier in the day), and Justin Timberlake’s halftime performance was lively and entertaining. The dancers, all of the musicians, the use of mirrors & bright colours, and the fact that he went into the crowd made for a fun experience. (Though, there is some controversy regarding his use of Prince’s image/music. According to people on social media, Prince didn’t like Justin Timberlake, and though his family permitted the use of Prince’s music/image, fans say that Prince would not have wanted to be involved… Prince is a legend, but I’m not enough of a fan to know anything about this. Added later: this article adds some context to the controversy.)
#ThisIsUs
I love this show. It aired right after the Super Bowl, which aligned with the plot perfectly.
The writing is always extraordinary. Had the New England Patriots thrown touchdown after touchdown like the This Is Us writing team, Eddy Ferrini would be flaunting his tattoo proudly tonight.
I retweeted a few of my favourite tweets during commercials (yes, I watched this episode live, which I never do). There were a few very funny tweets, which allowed for a break in the heartache caused by the episode. (I know it’s a television show, but I am wrapped up in all of its sweet agony when it’s on.)
I promised to keep this short, and I’m over 300 words already…
Life is good.
