While our American counterparts are celebrating Presidents’ Day, (most of) Canada is enjoying a long weekend, as we observe Family Day.

Whomever you call family (whether you have pets or not), I hope that you have a wonderful long weekend.

Before you go, I wish to bring your attention to a young Canadian woman who lost her battle to brain cancer Saturday night, at the age of 18. Her name is Becca Schofield.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting her, but she inspired countless to be kind around the world. She encouraged people to share their stories of kindness on social media, using the hashtag: #BeccaToldMeTo.

We’ve all heard about terrible instances of cyberbullying (sometimes leading to suicide. In fact, February 28, 2018 is Pink Shirt Day, and this year’s theme is cyberbullying). As we move forward, I ask that you read about Becca Schofield, and continue her work. Becca Schofield did her best to do more than her fair share to inspire kindness in what little time she had.

Rest in peace, Becca Schofield. My heartfelt condolences to Becca’s family and friends.
