Today is International Women’s Day! I was inspired to create a video; you can check it out here.

This year’s theme is Press For Progress (#PressForProgress), which is to continue to progress gender parity.

I hope that all of us take a moment to reflect and recognize the contributions  that women have made to advance society throughout history, and to celebrate the wonderful women in our own lives. This, however, represents the “softer side” of the day.

World Wildlife Day is a UN initiative observed on March 3rd since 2013. This year’s theme is “Big Cats- Predators Under Threat.” These beautiful animals need to be protected. According to the World Wildlife Day website,

Today is Pink Shirt Day. This year’s theme is cyberbullying.

Like I said in my video (you can watch it here), Pink Shirt Day is an initiative to raise awareness of bullying (cyberbullying, specifically). It’s important that we understand that there is power in numbers, and bullying can be stopped. (Please check out www.pinkshirtday.ca for resources and tips.)

Pink Shirt Day has its origins in Nova Scotia, Canada in 2007, and is now observed in many countries around the world.
